CVLC -- Serving East Tennessee

The Clinch Valley Literacy Council is an organization whose objective is the promote quality literacy services  to the resident in the local area of East Tennessee.

Achieving our objectives

  • Supporting the Anderson County Adult Education Program and other adult programs.
  • Recruiting, tutoring, and nurturing adults who need and want help with basic eduction.
  • Recruiting, training, supporting, and inspiring tutors and leaders.
  • Teaching English to speakers of other languages.
  • Promoting community interest, involvement, and advocacy in literacy programs. 

    The CVLC  was formed in 1998 as a merger of the former Tri-County LIteracy Council founded in 1976 and the Anderson County Adult Literacy Council founded in 1984.

All AE programs are free of charge and are geared to the individual needs of adult learners.  Click here.

Special Projects

The Clinch Valley Literacy Council in conjunction with grants from the Rotary Altrusa organization has several special projects ongoing.  Click here.

English as a Second Language

With the superior program, Rosetta Stone, from Fairfield Language Technologies, the CVLC has implemented ESL classes at the Oak Ridge YWCA computer lab.  In partnership with the YWCA, ESL classes have the benefit of computer, programmed learning.  Click here.
